FRISCO ? Juniors Ezinne Okpo and Kari Weiland and sophomore Allison Dillon were named to the Southland Conference’s All-Academic second team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Okpo maintains a 3.85 grade-point average in political science. The Denton native twice has been named to the President’s List (Fall 2006/Spring 2007) and she also earned Dean’s List honors in Fall 2007. Okpo was a second-team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI selection a year ago. A second-team All-SLC performer this fall, she started all but one match and anchored a Roadrunners defense that collected a school-record nine shutouts.
Weiland has a perfect 4.0 gpa in accounting and finance. The Flower Mound native was named to the Dean’s List as a freshman and has been on the President’s List the last three semesters. She also has been on the SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll list the last two seasons. Weiland appeared in all 21 matches this past year and tallied two goals and a pair of assists.
Dillon, who has a 3.40 gpa in business, was named to the UTSA Honor Roll in 2007 and also was an SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll member last season. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native led the team with seven goals and 17 points, while starting all 21 matches, and was an All-SLC honorable mention selection this fall. In just two seasons, she has accumulated 17 winners.
