SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA soccer team wrapped up regular season play in a three-way tie for second place in the Southland Conference standings after collecting a 1-0 win against Northwestern State at the UTSA Rec Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
The Roadrunners (9-9-1, 6-2-1 SLC) grabbed the early lead when sophomore Allison Dillon scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season within the first three minutes of the first half. Junior Kim Gonzales passed the ball to Dillon and she dribbled around the goalie to send it into the net.
The Lady Demons (9-8-2, 4-4-1 SLC) had several chances to tie the match, but freshman goalkeeper Nicoline Joergensen came up huge for the Roadrunners with five saves during the frame to seal the victory.
UTSA heads to Lake Charles, La., for the SLC Tournament on Nov. 6-9 at the Ward 3 Recreation Park. As the No. 3 seed, the Roadrunners will face No. 6 seed Northwestern State in the first round at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
