STOCKTON, Calif. ? The UTSA men’s golf team turned in a team total of 297 and is in 12th place after day one action at the Pacific Invitational.
“It was rough and wet day for us and the rest of the field,” head coach John Knauer said. “The course was damp and soft, but we still managed to put up solid scores in the front nine and were leading the tournament. When we got to the back nine, we stumbled on some holes and lost the lead. We still have a lot golf to play over the next two days and I know we can put up better scores to give us a chance.”
Senior Kyle Collins is tied for 26th place with a first-round tally of 73, while junior Emiliano Martinez and freshman Lewis Chong are tied for 40th place following their 74s.
UTSA returns to action on Tuesday morning for the second round.
