UTSA continues home stand with Tuesday match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA continues its current five-match home stand on Tuesday night when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a 7 p.m. contest at the Convoction Center. The Roadrunners (16-9, 8-3 SLC) have won five of their last half dozen tilts and 15 of 18 overall dating back to Sept. 10. The match will be carried live on goUTSA.com (free audio/video for Rody Zone subscribers) with Ed Suarez handling the call.

Laura Groff's squad is coming off a sweep of West Division co-leader Lamar on Saturday and it currently holds the No. 3 seed in the race for this month's Southland Conference Tournament in Nacogdoches. UTSA is two matches behind first-place Texas State in the West Division standings and one behind the Lady Cardinals. Stephen F. Austin leads the East with an 8-3 record, but the Roadrunners hold the tiebreaker due to their three-set win against the Ladyjacks on two-and-a-half weeks ago.

UTSA held on for a five-set victory on the coast on Oct. 3 and that setback started a current nine-match losing streak for A&M-Corpus Christi. The Roadrunners have won all nine matchups in the all-time series that dates back to the 2002 campaign and the last two meetings have gone the distance.

The Islanders, 3-18 overall and 1-10 in league play, last won on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they defeated UT Arlington for the first time in school history.
