Roadrunners wrap up UTSA Invitational in 11th place


KERRVILLE ? The UTSA men’s golf team fired a finalround 302 on Tuesday and finished 11th with a 54-hole total of 939 at the UTSA Invitational held at Comanche Trace Golf Course.

Freshman Lewis Chong led the Roadrunners with a 14th place showing.Chong shot an even-par 72 in the final round,en route to a two-day tally of227.

Freshman Payne Wilkie tied for 38th place with rounds of83-79-73=235, while junior Phillip Hui trailed Wilkie by two strokesand tied for 45th. Also in action were junior Emiliano Martinez andsenior Kyle Collins, who turned in scorecards of 244 and 247,respectively.

Sam Houston State won the team title with a 904 behind individual medalist Fergal Rafferty's four-over 220 effort. Louisiana-Lafayette (907), Florida Gulf Coast (909), UALR (910) and Central Arkansas (911) rounded out the top five in the 13-team field.

UTSA concludes its fall season at the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif., on Nov. 3-5.
