| Senior Kyle Collins fired a two-day total of 211 to finish tied for 12th place at Del Walker Intercollegiate. |
LONG BEACH, Calif. ? The UTSA men’s golf team finished fifth with a team total of 852 (278-278-296) at the Del Walker Intercollegiate held at Virginia Country Club (par 70/6,633 yards).
“Overall, it was a tough day for us and there were a couple of early holes that hurt,” head coach John Knauer said. “Despite the rough start, our guys battled throughout the day and were able to rebound. After the seventh hole, we shot even par, which was good for a top-five showing. It looks like we’re turning the corner in some areas, which is a good thing. It is building team confidence and that’s what we want going into our tournament next week.”
Senior Kyle Collins paced the Roadrunners, finishing tied for 12th place after shooting rounds of 67-68-76?211. Meanwhile, junior Phillip Hui ended his day one stroke behind Collins and tied for 15th. Junior Emiliano Martinez ended up in a tie for 29th place with a 54-hole score of 216.
The Roadrunners return to action next week when they host the UTSA Intercollegiate at Comanche Trace Golf Course in Kerrville.
