SAN ANTONIO ? Sophomore Max Stratmann collected his first career individual title at the UTSA Invitational held Friday and Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
Stratmann started off the day with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Beau Bernstein from UTPA in the semifinal round of the Singles Orange Draw Consolation bracket. The Bonn, Germany, native then cruised past David Pace from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) to capture his first crown in a UTSA uniform.
Meanwhile, freshman Jorge Delgado won his semifinal match, a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Alex Pavlov from TAMU-CC, to advance to the Orange Draw Singles final against Jose Tolentino from Laredo Community College. However, Delgado fell to Tolentino in straight sets (6-4, 6-2).
Junior Rodrigo Morgado was also in action, but dropped his match against Cledson Carvalho, 6-1, 7-5.
UTSA heads to College Station for the ITA Regional on Oct. 24-26.
