UTSA to end home stand on Tuesday night against Prairie View A&M

A victory on Tuesday would give UTSA its longest winning streak since the 200 season.

SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA will look to continue its winning ways when it wraps up its current four-match home stand with a 6 p.m. contest against Prairie View A&M on Tuesday at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners (8-6) have won seven matches in a row, its longest winning streak in nearly three years, and a victory on Tuesday night would be the program's longest since a 15-gamer in 2000. UTSA is coming off consecutive four-set wins against UT Arlington and Texas State to open the Southland Conference campaign last weekend and it is the squad's first 2-0 start in league play since 2004.

Defense has been a strong suit for UTSA this year, as it sits atop the conference rankings with 885 digs (16.1 ps). Freshman libero Kelsey Jewasko is leading the way with a league-high 251 (4.6 ps). The San Antonio native had a career-high 27 digs last Saturday against Texas State and she has been in double figures in the last 11 contests and 13 of 14 overall this fall.

Sophomore outside hitter Kendra Rowland continues to be a force offensively for the Birds, as she leads the SLC with 216 kills (3.9 ps). The Antioch, Calif., native has been in double figures in the last 13 matches and is hitting .207 this season. She also ranks second on the team with 155 digs and third in hitting percentage and service aces (13).

Freshman setter Amber Brooks, who has had at least 40 assists in each of the past seven matches, ranks second in the circuit with 494 helpers (9.0 ps) and sophomore middle hitter Valorie Rogers stands sixth with her .288 hitting percentage.

Prairie View comes into the match with a 3-9 record, but the Lady Panthers picked up their first victory of the season in last Tuesday's home opener against Texas Southern. Prior to that win, Prairie View had been swept in its previous eight contests. The Lady Panthers are led by Nicole Thompson's 68 kills, Erin Fondell's 176 assists and Michelle Paul's 77 digs.

UTSA has won all 12 of the previous meetings, including seven at the Convo, and has swept the last eight matchups overall.
