SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s golf team heads to New Haven, Conn., for the Yale Intercollegiate, which will be played at The Course of Yale (par 72/6,467 yards). The tournament begins with 18 holes on Saturday and the final 18 will be contested the following morning.
“This tournament features 18 teams, more than what we competed against at North Texas.” head coach Carrie Cole said. “The field is going to be tough and competitive. The good thing about this event is that some of the girls making the trip played in this tournament last year, so I’m looking for them to have a good outing this weekend. Our girls have prepared well over the week and are ready to compete.”
Freshman Bruna Spengler paced the Roadrunners when she tied for sixth place in the individual standings with scores of 76-75-78 (229) at the North Texas Classic last week. UTSA finished in fourth place after turning in rounds of 309-305-312 (926). Senior Allie Jordan finished the tournament tied for 12th after carding a 78-75-78?231, while junior Shelly Martinez was two strokes behind at 233 (15th place).
