LOGAN, Utah ? The UTSA (3-5) soccer team dropped its second match in row with a 2-0 loss at Utah State on Thursday.
Freshman goalkeeper Nicoline Joergensen made six saves on 11 shots by the Aggies to keep the match scoreless in the first half.
Utah State (4-4-1) took the early 1-0 lead at the 57-minute mark of the second frame when Lindsey Smart received a pass from Summer Tillotson and was able to knock it in the goal from 25 yards out from the left side. Lauren Hansen gave Utah State a two-goal cushion with 10 minutes to play.
Freshman Taylor Padia held match-high honors with three shots, while freshman Bonnie Caulfield and juniors Halee Hamm and Ezinne Okpo had one attempt apiece. Joergensen ended the match with a career-best eight saves.
The Roadrunners wrap up their five-match road trip at Southern Utah at 1 p.m. (CT) on Saturday.
