DENTON ? Freshman Bruna Spengler wrapped up her first collegiate
tournament tied for sixth place in the individual standings with scores
of 76-75-78?229 to lead the UTSA women’s golf team to a fourth-place showing
after turning in rounds of 309-305-312?926 at the North Texas Women’s
Golf Classic.
“This was a great to start to the season.” head coach Carrie Cole said.
“All the girls played a key role in getting this fourth-place finish.
Bruna had a good tournament, finishing tied for sixth. We are looking
forward to our next tournament.”
UTSA finished two strokes behind Cal Ploy (926) and one behind
Houston Baptist (925), who ended the day in second and third place,
respectively. Central Arkansas claimed the tournament championship with a two-day total of 905.
Senior Allie Jordan finished the tournament tied for 12th
after carding a 78-75-78?231, while junior Shelly Martinez was two
strokes behind Jordan (233) and was tied for 15th. Senior Laura Baker
posted a 82-78-77?237 and finished tied for 26th.
UTSA is back in action when it travels to New Haven, Conn., for the Yale Intercollegiate on Sept. 27-28.
