? UTSA concludes its season long five-match road trip this week when it visits Utah State at 5 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, Sept. 18, and Southern Utah two days later (1 p.m.).

Series Meeting: This will be the first meeting between UTSA and Utah State and Southern Utah.

Scouting Utah State and Southern Utah: The Aggies are sporting a 3-4-1 overall record. Utah State split its two matches last week. The Aggies fell 2-0 to in-state rival Utah on Sept. 12 in Salt Lake City, Utah. USU collected its third win of the season with a 2-1 win over against UTEP last Sunday.

Southern Utah is 0-5 on the year. the Thunderbirds suffered a 3-2 loss against Utah Valley on Sept. 13, then were shut out 2-0 versus UC-Irvine on Sept. 15.

Last outing: UTSA fell 3-0 at Baylor on last Sunday in non-conference action at Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The Bears jumped to a 2-0 lead within the first seven minutes of the first half on goals by Lotto Smith and Lindsey Johnson. The Roadrunners had two opportunities to get on the board in the first frame, but junior Celeste Carruth’s shot soared over the crossbar at the 14-minute mark and an Ezinne Okpo shot was high midway through the stanza. In second half action, Smith’s second goal of the match gave Baylor a 3-0 cushion at the 67-minute mark.  

Runners set mark against Texas Southern: UTSA posted a school record 32 shots in the 7-0 win over Texas Southern on Aug. 29. The Roadrunners also tied a school mark with seven goals.

UTSA places six on preseason team: The Roadrunners landed a league-best six players on the 2008 Southland Conference Preseason Soccer Teams. Juniors Veronica Najera, Ezinne Okpo and Chelsea Zimmerman and sophomore Allison Dillon were first-team selections, while juniors Celeste Carruth and Kim Selman garnered second-team honors.
