DENTON ? UTSA freshman Bruna Spengler, who is making her collegiate debut, stands in sixth place in the individual standings after turning in scores of 76-75=151 to lead the women’s golf team to a third-place showing (309-305=614) at the North Texas Women’s Classic held at the Robson Ranch Golf Course.
"I was pleased with today's results, especially Bruna," first-year head coach Carrie Cole said. "Overall, it was a good day for us as a team. They all did their part in order to get us in contention. I saw good things from each player as the day went on."
Spengler sits four strokes behind Central Arkansas’ Nicole Fisher and Rebecca Scrensen in the individual standings. Senior Allie Jordan carded a 78-75=153 and is tied for 10th place, while junior Shelly Martinez is tied for 12th after shooting a pair of 77’s on the day.
The Roadrunners tee off Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes.
