Kickoff: After collecting a split last weekend, UTSA returns to the Alamo City for its weekend home opener against Texas Southern on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m., and versus Texas Tech two days later at the UTSA Rec Sports Complex. Admission is free and free food and T-shirts will be given away before the match on Friday.
Series Meeting: This will be the third meeting between the Roadrunners and Lady Tigers. UTSA leads the all-time series, 2-0, against Texas Southern. Meanwhile, Texas Tech leads, 2-0, in the all-time series.

Scouting Texas Southern and Texas Tech: Texas Southern is coming off a pair of lossed last weekend. In the their season opener on Aug. 24, the Lady Tigers fell to Nicholls, 5-1, in Houston. TSU then suffered a 5-0 setback at Houston Baptist on Aug. 26. Texas Tech opened its 2008 season with 4-0 win against Lamar last Friday in Lubbock. Brittney Harrison paced the Red Raiders offense with two goals, while Shannon Sims and Zhaleh Rezaie scored one goal apiece.
Last outing: UTSA dropped a 5-1 decision at Rice in non-conference action on last Sunday. Freshman Sheri Olayiwola scored the Roadrunners’ lone goal in the 87th minute and freshman Hannah Collazo recorded her first collegiate assist on the play.
UTSA places six on preseason team: the Roadrunners landed a league-best six players on the 2008 Southland Conference Preseason Soccer Teams. Juniors Veronica Najera, Ezinne Okpo and Chelsea Zimmerman and sophomore Allison Dillon were first-team selections, while juniors Celeste Carruth and Kim Selman garnered second-team honors.
