The UTSA soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision at Rice innon-conference action on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls (2-0) struck within the first four minutes of thematch when Anne Candee scored off a pass from Erin Scott for the early 1-0 lead

In the second frame, Candee gave Rice a 3-0 advantage withher second and third goals of the match. Meanwhile, Shelley Wong’s second winnerof the contest gave the Owls a 5-0 edge at the 78-minute mark.
Freshman Sheri Olayiwola netted her first collegiate goalfor the Roadrunners (1-1) to make the score 5-1 in the 87th minute and freshman Hannah Collazo recorded her first collegiate assist on the play.
UTSA returns to San Antoniofor its home opener against TexasSouthern on Friday, Aug. 29, at the UTSA Rec Sports Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7p.m.
