SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA head women’s basketball coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair announced Tuesday that Koty Cowgill has been promoted from Director of Operations to Assistant Coach.
“It’s just a great opportunity for Koty,” Rippetoe-Blair said. “He really has worked hard over the last three years as our Director of Operations, and I felt that he deserved a chance to become one of our assistant coaches. He has great basketball knowledge and excellent connections around Texas and in other parts of the country.”
Cowgill, who spent three seasons as the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations, will handle recruiting, work with the guards and posts and coordinate travel arrangements. The Grand Island, Neb., native also be in charge of equipment and film exchange and supervise the student managers.
“I want to thank Coach Blair for giving me the opportunity to take the position of assistant coach.” Cowgill said. “It is something that I have always wanted to do. I truly enjoyed my time as the Director of Basketball Operations for the past three years, but I’m really looking forward to taking on new responsibilities within the program. I’m excited about the chance to contribute to the continued success of UTSA women’s basketball for years to come.”
A former basketball player at Briar Cliff (Iowa) University from 2000-04, he was twice an Academic All-American.
