FRISCO ? Junior Karen Scida was selected to the Capital One/Southland Conference All-Academic first-team and junior Monika Drabkova and Holly Phillips earned second-team honors, the league office announced on Monday.
Sicda, a first-team honoree a year ago, maintains a 3.80 grade-point average (gpa) in chemistry. The Tucuman, Argentina, native led the team with 14 singles wins at the No. 1 slot this past spring. A two-time Dean’s List honoree, she earned second-team All-SLC accolades and also picked up UTSA’s Loyce & Bill Collenback Endowed Scholarship this season.
Drabkova was a second teamer for the second year in a row. The Prague, Czech Republic, native ended the year with a 3.82 gpa in marketing. She posted a team-high 11 doubles wins this past season and received UTSA’s Will & Mary Hathaway Honors Scholarship. Drabkova has been named to the Dean’s List the past two years.
Phillips, who carries a team-best 3.98 gpa, recorded a career-high 12 singles wins, which ranked second on the team this year. The Rochester, N.Y., native came on strong toward the end of the season, winning six of her last eight matches. She has been named to the President’s List and Dean’s List in each of her first two years in navy blue and orange.
