Epps will compete in the long jump, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, while Jones is in the 100-meter hurdles field, with preliminaries slated for 2:40 p.m. Friday and the final at 4:45 p.m. Saturday. The Midwest City, Okla., native enters the regional meet tied for 18th in the 31-person field. Two years ago, Epps measured 19-1 1/2 to finish 21st in the long jump prelims in Austin.

Jones qualified for the 100m hurdles field over her last three races, capped by a personal-best 13.76 to win the SLC Outdoor crown on May 11 in Huntsville. The sophomore from Hightower High School won four races during the outdoor season, including the Border Olympics (March 1), Texas State Open (March 7) and Texas Twilight (April 19). She enters this weekend’s meet with the 20-fastest time in the field.
