AUSTIN ? The UTSA 400-meter relay team of junior Shanelle Slaughter, senior Brittany Epps, freshman Shavonne Armbrister and junior Ashley Jackson finished fourth in the Invitational Division to highlight action for the women’s track and field team on Saturday at the 81st annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The foursome passed the baton to a fourth-place time of 47.21 to finish fourth behind three professional squads in the race won by the USA Red team of Muna Lee, Torri Edwards, Carmlita Jeter and Sanya Richards in 42.25.
The same UTSA quartet also finished 13th in the 4x2 in 1:39.00.
Sophomore Dana Mecke knocked more than six seconds off her previous personal-best in the 1,500 meters, clocking a 4:33.95 for fifth place in the “A” Section on Saturday.
In other action during the four-day meet, the 4x800m relay team of Mecke, sophomore Faith Barlow and freshmen Kim Brooks and Jayde James finished 10th in 9:29.63 on Friday night.
The Roadrunners travel to Kingsville to compete in the Javelina Open next Saturday, April 12.
