FRISCO ? UTSA senior Brittany Epps has been named Southland Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field co-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Itmarked the first career weekly honor for Epps, who shared the awardwith Kassandrea Son of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and the first forthe Roadrunners women’s track & field team this season.
Epps ran on two victorious relay teams and punched her ticket to theNCAA Midwest Regional in the long jump last Saturday at the JavelinaInvitational. Competing against athletes from Texas, Texas-PanAmerican, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville andTexas Lutheran, she leaped to a personal-best and regional-qualifyingmark of 20-0 ? inches to finish second, posting thesecond-best measure in the Southland Conference this year in theprocess. The Midwest City, Okla., native also ran on the winning 400-meterand 1,600m quartets, which posted season-best times of 46.67 and3:47.65, respectively, the latter of which is the second-fastest time in the league thisseason.
