SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s track and field team will travel to Kingsville to compete in the Javelina Invitational on Saturday, April 12, at Javelina Stadium.
The meet gets underway with field and running events at 1:30 p.m. The Roadrunners will compete against teams from Texas, Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
UTSA is coming off a solid showing at the Texas Relays in Austin last week. Sophomore Dana Mecke continued her strong season in the middle distances, finishing fifth in the 1,500 meters with a 4:33.95 clocking, a six-second improvement from her previous personal record. The women’s 4x100m relay team of junior Shanelle Slaughter, senior Brittany Epps, freshman Shavonne Armbrister and junior Ashley Jackson stopped the clock in 47.21 for fourth place against professional teams in the Invitational Division.
Multi-eventers Aimee Jonas and Kari Michalik wrap up action in the heptathlon at the ASU/David Noble Relays today in San Angelo.
