HOUSTON ? The UTSA women’s tennis team handed McNeeseStatea 4-1 loss on Wednesday afternoon in Southland Conference action.
The Roadrunners (7-12, 4-5 SLC) jumped on the Cowgirls(7-10, 2-6 SLC) early after collecting the doubles point.
In singles action, UTSA took a commanding 3-0 lead whenjuniors Karen Scida and Nathalie Wallin won their matches at the top two spots.Vicky Martinez made the score 3-1 with her 6-4, 6-3 victory over junior MonikaDrabkova at the No. 3 position. However, junior Eva Silvester clinched the victory for UTSA with herstraight-sets triumph (7-5, 7-5) over Inga Efimenko at the No. 6 slot.Sophomore Holly Phillips' and freshman Caroline Dedering’s matches were halted due torain.
UTSA closes out its regular season with a pair of conference roadmatches. The Roadrunners play at Sam Houston State on Saturday and at Stephen F. Austin the following day.
