SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s tennis team dropped its final home match of the 2008 season with a 5-2 loss against I-35 rival Texas State on Sunday afternoon in Southland Conference action at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners dropped to 6-12 overall and 3-5 in league play.
The Bobcats (9-8, 6-2 SLC) began the day by winning the doubles point for the early 1-0 lead.
Texas State then won four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.
The Bobcats increased their lead to 3-0 after Rabea Hartmann and Ali Gulida collected victories at the No. 2 and No. 5 slots, respectively. Junior Karen Scida won her team-leading 10th singles match of the season when she defeated Adrea Giraldo, 6-4, 7-6 at the top spot. However, Ashley Ellis sealed the match with her straight-sets win (7-5, 7-5) against junior Monika Drabkova at the No. 3 position.
UTSA travels to Houston for an SLC match against McNeese State on Wednesday, April 9.
