SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s tennis team wraps up its five-match home stand this week with three matches.
The stretch begins at 1 p.m. on Thursday against Detroit and concludes against Southland Conference foes UT Arlington (Saturday) and I-35 Rival Texas State (Sunday).
The Roadrunners (4-11, 2-4 SLC) dropped a 6-1 decision against Lamar on last Saturday. Junior Karen Scida tops the team with nine singles wins, including a 5-1 mark in league play. The Tucuman, Argentina, native has been victorious in seven of her last 10 matches. Meanwhile, sophomore Holly Phillips ranks second with seven singles victories and she also has collected five wins in doubles play.
The Titans are 7-7 on the season and have won their last three matches. Detroit returns to action for the first time since defeating Cleveland State, 4-3, on March 21.
The Mavericks are sporting a 4-8 overall mark and 3-3 record in league play. UTA went split a pair of matches last week in Arlington. UT Arlington fell, 6-1, against Sam Houston State on Saturday and defeated Stephen F. Austin, 4-3, the following day.
The Bobcats (7-8, 4-2 SLC) tallied two conference wins last week against Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State.
