FRISCO ? Senior Adam Becker was named Southland Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. It is the first weekly award of his four-year career.
The Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, native went a 2-0 in both singles and doubles matches last week. He defeated New Mexico State’s Stefan McKinney 6-4, 7-5, at No. 4 singles and Becker paired up with junior Robin Fernandes at No. 2 doubles for an 8-7 win over Alejandro De Mucha and Gusttave Diep.
Becker then helped the Roadrunners record a 4-3 win over Samford on Thursday. He posted a straight-sets win (7-5, 6-2) over Hank Gant at the No. 3 slot and then won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Becker’s 10 singles wins rank second on the team and he has won eight of his last 10 contests.
UTSA returns to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
