Sophomore Krista Sitka went 2-for-3 with her fourth homer of the year on Tuesday.

SAN ANTONIO ? Sophomore Krista Sitka went 2-for-3 with her fourth home run of the season, but Brette Reagan had three hits and two RBIs to lead No. 13 Baylor past UTSA, 5-1, in non-conference softball action Tuesday night at Roadrunner Field.

With the win, the Bears move to 13-3 on the year, while the Roadrunners fall to 8-9.

Sitka blasted her fourth long ball to match freshman Whitney Balch for the team lead, while sophomore Rudi Cantu extended her hitting streak to a career-long 10 games with an infield single in her last at-bat. Sophomore Mercedes Hessel recorded her second double of the season as hits were tough to come by against the defending Big 12 Champions and 2007 Women’s College World Series participant.

Reagan was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Jordan Daniels had two hits and an RBI to lead a Lady Bears offense that posted 10 hits to extend their winning streak to six games.

After a pair of scoreless innings, Baylor pushed across an unearned run in the top of the third inning. Kirsten Shortridge reached on a fielding error, but was thrown out trying to advance to second base while UTSA pitcher was entering the circle. Reagan drew a one-out walk and Meagan Weldon reached on another error to put runners at first and second. A walk to Daniels loaded the bases and a wild pitch plated Reagan. The run was unearned as a foul out by Nicole Wesley ended the frame.

Sitka tied the score with a line drive solo blast over the left field fence in the fourth. UTSA then loaded the bases with no out three consecutive walks, chasing the starter Shortridge. Brittany Turner came on in relief and got out of the jam with a rundown and a pair of strikeouts.

The Bears retook the lead on an RBI single up the middle by Reagan that plated Shortridge, who reached on an infield single. Pinch runner Morgan Craig stole second and came home on a sharp double down the right field line by Turner to make it 3-1.

Baylor tacked on two runs in the seventh on RBI singles by Reagan and Daniels for the final tally.

Turner (3-1) picked up the win in relief, allowing two hits and striking out six. Senior Amanda Nikolenko gave up four earned runs on 10 hits in the loss to fall to 3-4.

The Roadrunners hit the road to face UT Arlington in a three-game Southland Conference series this weekend.
