UTSA in seventh place after first day of Carter Plantation Intercollegiate


Sophomore Simon Merry shot a 153 on Monday and is tied for 18th place.

SPRINGFIELD, La. ? The UTSA men’s golf team carded a first-day total of 620 (306-314) at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate held at the Carter Country Club.

Sophomore Simon Merry paced the Roadrunners with a two-round scorecard of 75-78=153 and he is tied for 18th place. Meanwhile, senior Nick Olivarri shot an 84 in the first round but bounced back with 72 in the second for first-day score of 156, which is good enough for 23rd place.

UTSA returns to the links on Tuesday morning for the final 18 holes.
