FRISCO -- Freshman Dany? Holmes was tabbed Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Holmes hit .500 (6-for-12) with two home runs, eight RBIs, a 1.000 slugging percentage (12 total bases) and .647 on-base percentage to help lead UTSA to a 3-1 record last week on the road. Holmes had a hit in every game, including two base knocks in two of the three games against Central Arkansas. The Sugar Land native had a two-run homer in the 9-4 loss at North Texas and was 2-for-4 with a three-run blast, while also tossing a complete-game three-hitter in the circle, in a 7-1 win over UCA. She drew three walks in game two of the UCA series and rounded out the set by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
It marked the first weekly accolade for the Roadrunners this season. Rachel Ray of Southeastern Louisiana won the Pitcher of the Week award.
