The UTSA women’s tennis team fell 5-2 at Texas A&M-Corpus Christion Saturday afternoon in Southland Conference action.
The Roadrunners (4-8, 2-3 SLC) lost the doubles points to the Islanders (3-3,2-1 SLC).
A&M-Corpus Christi then won four of the six singles matches. Junior KarenScida tied the match at one with her straight-sets win (6-1, 6-2) over CarmenAbeaboeru at the No. 1 spot. UTSA then took a 2-1 lead when sophomore HollyPhillips won her match at the No. 5 position.
However, the Islanders won the nextthree matches to seal the three-point victory. Alexandra Dyckman knotted the score at two after coming off the court with a 6-4, 6-3 win against freshman CarolineDedering. AMCC collected wins at the No. 2 and No. 6 slots to clinchthe match.
UTSA returns to action on Sunday at Texas-Pan American.
