Roadrunners women to host UTSA Relays this weekend

SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s track & field team will host the ninth annual UTSA Relays this Friday and Saturday at Blossom Stadium. More than 2,000 high school, college and professional athletes will converge on the Alamo City for the two-day, non-scored meet that kicks off at 11 a.m. on Friday and continues through Saturday evening.

The Roadrunners will compete against athletes from Incarnate Word, Sul Ross State, Southwest Christian, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas State and Trinity. For complete meet information and results, please click here.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children (17 and under) and $12 for a two-day pass. They may be purchased at the box office located at the north end of the facility.

The Roadrunners are coming off back-to-back solid efforts at the outdoor season-opening Border Olympics two weeks ago and the Texas State Open last Friday. Senior Brittany Epps and sophomores Jessica Jones and Dana Mecke all picked up victories in San Marcos, as Epps won the long jump for the second consecutive week, while Jones cruised to an easy win in the 100-meter hurdles and Mecke won the 1,500m and finished second in the 800m.

UTSA won eight events at this meet last year, including the 400-meter, 1,600-meter and shuttle hurdle relays.
