CONWAY, Ark. ? The UTSA women’s tennis team collected a 6-1 victory at Central Arkansas on Saturday morning.
The Roadrunners (4-6, 2-1 SLC) won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches against the Sugar Bears (0-7, 0-4).
In singles action, UTSA won five of six matches in straight sets.
Freshman Caroline Dedering gave the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Lisa Mainz at the No. 4 slot, while junior Nathalie Wallin pushed the lead 3-0, after winning her match, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 2 position. Central Arkansas got on the board when Lindsey Short came off the court with a 6-3, 6-3 win versus junior Eva Silvester at No. 6. Sophomore Holly Phillips clinched the match for UTSA with her 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot.
UTSA returns to action on Sunday at Northwestern State.
