Southeastern Louisiana blanks UTSA on Sunday

SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s tennis team fell 7-0 against Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Lady Lions (6-2, 2-0 SLC) won two of the three doubles matches for the 1-0 lead over the Roadrunners (3-6, 1-1 SLC). Freshman Caroline Dedering and junior Karen Scida defeated Nina Knavs and Breda Kovac 8-7 at the No. 1 spot.

SLU then won all six singles matches in straight sets. The Lady Lions pushed their lead 2-0 when Knavs handed junior Eva Silvester a 6-1, 6-0 loss at the No. 6 position. Southeastern Louisiana then clinched the match when Kovac and Jana Simurkova came off the court with wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively.

UTSA hits the road for a pair of league matches next weekend at Central Arkansas and Northwestern State.
