Merry finishes fifth at UTSA Intercollegiate


Sophomore Simon Merry finished tied for fifth place with a two-day 214 at the UTSA Intercollegiate.

? Sophomore Simon Merry turned in final-round 74 on Tuesday and finished in a fifth-place tie in the individual standings (214/+1) to lead the Roadrunners men's golf squad at 13th annual UTSAIntercollegiate.

UTSA, which shot a three-round total of 890 (303-287-300), placed eighth in the two-day event, which was played at Oak Hills Country Club.

Merry (73-67-74) finished two strokes behind Noah Goldman of MississippiState in the individual standings.Meanwhile, sophomore Phillip Hui ended the day tied for 18th after firing a221 (78-69-74). Sophomore Emiliano Martinez turned in a two-day total of 229 and stood in 53rd place.

UTSA’s “B” team concluded the tournament in 16th-place performance (326-296-299=921). Senior Shane Costelloe paced the “B” team with athree-round card of 221 (76-71-74) and tied for 18th place.

The Roadrunners are back in action next weekend when they travel to Dade, Fla.,for the Ron Smith/USF Invitational (Feb. 29-March 2).
