SAN ANTONIO ? The Roadrunners men’s golf team opens its 2008 spring season when it hosts the 13th annual UTSA Intercollegiate beginning Monday at the Oak Hills Country Club (6,765 yards/par 71). The two-day tournament begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
Sixteen teams make up the field, including nine from last year. Air Force, Central Arkansas, DePaul, Illinois State, Louisiana-Monroe, Marshall, McNeese State, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, defending champion Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Tech, Texas State and Wichita State will join UTSA on the course.
Last year, the Roadrunners finished in third with a team total of 891 (303-295-293). Sophomore Simon Merry placed third in the individual standings with a two-day total of 214 (69-71-74).
