KINDER, La. ? Sophomore Shelly Martinez finished in seventh place with a 74-76-78=228 to lead the UTSA women's golf team at the Koasati Pines Collegiate Classic in Kinder, La., last weekend. The Roadrunners posted a fifth-place showing with a team total of 939 (314-315-310).
Junior Allie Jordan capped off the two-day event in 14th place (77-80-75=232), while sophomore Laeni Bendzik finished tied for 29th in her Roadrunners debut after shooting an 82-79-77=238. Junior Laura Baker and senior Lesan Gouge ended the tournament tied for 39th and 63th place, respectively. Also in action was sophomore Kayla McBride, who played as an individual, turned in a two-day total of 244, which was good for 46th place.
UTSA travels to Corpus Christi for the Islander Spring Classic on Feb. 25-26.
