UTSA men drop season opener to TCU

SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to TCU in the season opener for both schools on Saturday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs began the match by winning the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Senior Adam Becker and junior Andre Moreira won their match over Adrian Simon and Casey Powers at the No. 2 slot, 8-2.

TCU sweep all the singles matches en route to the shutout win. Jack Seider put the Horned Frogs up 2-0 with a straight-set win against Moreira (6-0, 6-4) and Powers pushed the lead 3-0 after handing freshman Daniel Moreiras a 6-3, 6-2 setback at the No. 6 position. Cosmin Cotet clinched the match with his straight-set victory against sophomore Rodrigo Morgado at the top spot (6-1, 6-3).

UTSA travels to Austin on Sunday to face Texas.
