Men's track & field to send 14 athletes to Houston this weekend

SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA men's track & field continues its indoor campaign this weekend when it sends 14 athletes to the Houston Invitational/Multis.

The Roadrunners, who will compete in 10 events on Friday and Saturday, will go against athlletes from Houston, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Northwood, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Tec de Monterrey, Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Trinity.

Senior Tommy Wolfe and freshman Lucas Neeper will be the only Roadrunners in action on Friday when they compete in the first four events of the heptathlon. That action gets underway at 3 p.m. Saturday's field events commence at 9 a.m. and the running trials start at noon. Click here for complete information and live results.

UTSA is coming off a record-setting weekend at the Blue & Orange Classic in Boise, Idaho. Senior Steven Brown leaped 24-6 ?/7.49m to finish in sixth place in the long jump and just missedan NCAA provisional qualifying mark by one one-hundredth of a meter.His effort broke All-American Justin Youngblood’s former mark of 24-6?/7.48m, which was set during the 2001 campaign, and it is the best measurement in the Southland Conference this season. Meanwhile, sophomore Alton St.Rose skipped to a 48-4 ?/14.75m for a sixth-place showing in the triple jump.That shattered the record of 47-9 ?/14.57m that he set at last year’sNorthern Arizona Team Challenge.
