AUSTIN ? The UTSA women’s tennis team dropped its 2008 season opener 6-1 at No. 24 Texas on Saturday afternoon.
The Longhorns began the day by winning all three double matches in straight sets for the early 1-0 lead.
Texas then won five of the six singles matches en route to the victory.
UT’s Stephanie Davison defeated junior Monika Drabkova in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) at the No. 3 singles position, while Vanja Corovic pushed the lead to 3-0 after she defeated junior Karen Scida at No. 1 spot. Caroline Larsson sealed the match for Texas with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5. The Roadrunners' lone win of the match came at No. 2 when Nathalie Wallin won a tough three-set match against Courtney Zauft (2-6, 6-2, 6-3).
UTSA is back in action on Friday, Jan. 25m when it travels to Houston for a non-conference match at Rice.
