Second half surge litfs UTSA past Central Arkansas, 76-49

CONWAY, Ark. ? The UTSA women’s basketball team outscored Central Arkansas42-11 in the second half and picked up its first Southland Conference win of the year with a76-49 win on Thursday night at the Farris Center.

Senior guard Terrie Davis led all scorers with 20 points on the strength of six 3-pointers. Meanwhile, junior guard Monica Gibbs added16 points and dished out a game-high seven assists and senior forward AmandaFoster and junior forward Onika Anderson each hauled in 10 rebounds apiece. TheRoadrunners (9-6, 1-1 SLC) tallied a season-high 21 assists and forced 21turnovers ? 18 from steals ? and capitalized with 31points off the Sugar Bears' miscues.



Laura Beth Anderson led UCA (2-14, 0-3 SLC) with 14 points, while Jamye Adair chipped in with 11 and grabbed ateam-high nine boards.

UTSA built a 15-10 lead on Davis’ 3-pointers from the left wing with12:47 to go in the first half. Meagan Nickell made good on a three-ball to tiethe game at 15 at the 11-minute mark and Anderson’strey gave Central Arkansas its first lead of the night at24-22 with just under six minutes to play. UCA took a 38-34 advantage into thelocker room courtesy of a 9-5 run.



The Roadrunners opened the second half with a 19-3 stretch to make thescore 55-41 with 13:41 to go. Davishighlighted the spurt when she connected on four 3-pointers. Anderson was good on athree to pull the Sugar Bears within 14 at 58-44 at the 12-minute mark. However, it would be the closet Central Arkansas would getfor the rest of the game. The Roadrunners ended the game on a 28-8 run to sealthe 27-point victory.

UTSA concludes its two-game road swing at NorthwesternStateon Saturday. Tip is slated for 2 p.m.
