Women?s tennis conclude fall play over the weekend

DENTON ? The UTSA women’s tennis team finished off its fall campaign in strong fashion at the UNT Invitational over the weekend.

In singles action, freshman Caroline Dedering posted a 3-0 mark to finish in first place of the flight 4 bracket. In her first match, she handed Rachel Wilhelm from North Texasa 7-5, 7-6 loss, then rolled past Vicky Michaud from UTEP in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). The Stockholm, Sweden, native collected her third win after defeating Amy Jellish from Illinois-Chicago. Meanwhile, sophomore Holli Phillips recorded two win, while junior Karen Scida had one victory in singles play.

Dedering and Scida went 3-0 over the weekend, while junior Nathalie Wallin and Phillips also tallied three victories in doubles action.

UTSA opens its 2008 spring season at Texas on Jan. 19.
