SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to McNeese State on Sunday afternoon in Southland Conference action at the UTSA Recreational Sports Complex.
The Roadrunners (8-8-2, 6-2-1 SLC) struck first when sophomoreVeronica Najera scored her ninth goal of the season with 35 minutes to go inthe first half. However, the Cowgirls (11-4-4, 7-1-1 SLC) scored the next three goalswithin a span of 16 minutes to take a commanding 3-1 lead.
In the second half, McNeese State pushed the score to 4-1 on Ja’NaePowell’s second goal on the day at the 66-minute mark.
UTSA now will head to next week's 2007 SLC Tournament as theNo. 3 seed and play at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday against sixth-seeded Sam HoustonState in Natchitoches, La.
