SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA women’s basketball coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair announced Monday the signing of JaMorgan Davis (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches High School) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2008-09 season.
“Her signing was big for us because it’s going to fill a much-needed void next season.” Rippetoe-Blair said. “She will provide post presence for us and be a great asset to our program. We lucked out in signing her, because Stephen F. Austin and Oral Roberts were the other two schools that showed some interested in her.”
Davis averaged 21 points and nine rebounds per game, while shooting 53 percent from the floor last year. She led her squad to a 25-11 overall record and a trip to Class 4A Regional Final in 2007, where she posted a double-double with 31 points and 22 rebounds in a 57-52 loss to Frisco. Davis guided her team to the regional semifinals in 2006 and another regional final in 2005.
She collected all-region accolades and was selected to the Sports Writers All-State team as a junior and also was a first-team all-district honoree as a sophomore and junior. Davis also was named team MVP and Offensive Player of the Year last season.
