F. Austin ended the UTSA women’s soccer team's season with a 1-0 victory in the Southland Conference semifinals on Friday night. The Roadrunners finished their second campaign of play with a 9-9-2 record.
The Ladyjacks (12-4-2) controlled the first half, outshooting UTSA, 10-7, but freshman Allison McCabe kept the match scoreless
by making five saves in the frame.
SFA scored the only goal of the match when Kelli Wilson netted her ninth winner of the season at the 46-minute mark of the second half. Sophomore Ezinne Okpo had a great look at the
net 10 minutes later, but Crystin Pactor made the save for the Ladyjacks. One minute later, sophomore
Veronica Najera’s shot was stopped by Pactor.
With less than two minutes remaining in the match UTSA had two more
opportunities to tie the match, but sophomore Halee Hamm’s shot sailed over the
crossbar and sophomore Kim Selman's blast from 25 yards out as time was expiring landed into Pactor’s hands to seal the 1-0 victory.
Freshman Alli Dillon and Najera had three shots apiece, while Selman recorded two on the night for UTSA. McCabe posted a match-high seven saves.
SFA will face McNeese State in the championship match at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
