SAN ANTONIO ? Sophomores Dana Mecke and Faith Barlow both finished in the top seven runners Saturday to lead the UTSA women’s cross country team to a third-place showing at the Incarnate Word Invitational held at San Antonio State School.
Mecke covered the 5,000-meter loop in a time of 18:04.2 to take fourth place, while Barlow was close behind in seventh in 18:42.2.
The Roadrunners scored 92 points for third behind Trinity (46) and Incarnate Word (62), but ahead of Texas State (101), Texas A&M-Kingsville (120), St. Mary’s (132), Prairie View A&M (148), St. Edward’s (204) and Texas A&M International (246).
Freshmen Adalit Casanova and Liana Garcia finished 23rd (19:54.4) and 25th (19:57.7), respectively, while freshman Cordelia Robinson crossed in 21:45.4 for 51st.
UTSA returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 13, at the TLU Bulldog Classic in Seguin.
