Freshman Alli Dillon posted a career-night with two goals and two assists at Nicholls |
THIBODAUX, La. ? Freshman Alli Dillon and sophomore Veronica Najera each scored two goals, as the UTSA soccer team collected a 5-1 win at Nicholls State in its Southland Conference opener on Friday. Dillon also recorded two assists in the victory.
The Lady Colonels (1-10-1, 0-1 SLC) went up 1-0 less than three minutes into the match when Kaity Mattsson
scored.
However, UTSA (3-6-1, 1-0 SLC) netted five goals in the second half. Dillon tied the
match at one at the 62-minute mark off a pass from sophomore Kim Selman. The
Roadrunners took a 3-1 lead courtesy of Najera’s back-to-back winners.
Sophomore Jenny Munoz upped UTSA’s lead to 4-1 with her second goal of the season,
while Dillon’s second goal of the match gave UTSA the 5-1 win.
UTSA concludes its road trip on Sunday when it visits Southeastern Louisiana. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
