NATCHITOCHES, La. ? The UTSA women’s soccerteam extended its unbeaten streak to five matches with a 1-0 win atNorthwestern State on Sunday afternoon. The victory vaulted the Roadrunners into a three-way tie with McNeeseStateand Stephen F. Austin for first place in the Southland Conference standings with just two matches remaining this season.
Freshman Alli Dillon took a pass from sophomore Veronica Najera and netted her seventh goal of the year 16 minutes into the first half. It would be all the offense theRoadrunners (7-7-2, 5-1-1 SLC) would need.
NorthwesternState(11-5-2, 3-3-2 SLC) out shot UTSA 11-7 in the second half, but sophomore Kasi Hebert came up bigfor the Roadrunners with three saves, including back-to-back stops to preservethe 1-0 win. The Spring native collected five saves on the day enroute to her first shutout of the season.
Sophomore Kim Selman led UTSA with three shots, whilesophomores Chea Pajak and Halee Hamm had two apiece. The Roadrunners’defense recorded their second consecutive shutout to bring its season totalto five.
Erin Hebert totaled a match-high four shots on the day for Northwestern State and goalkeeper Johnna Klohokerrecorded five saves.
UTSA closes out its regular season next weekend with a pairof SLC matches at the UTSA Recreational Sports Complex.
