LUBBOCK ? The UTSA women’steam concluded play this past weekend at the ITA Southwest Regional at the McLeodTennisCenter.
In singles action, junior Karen Scida lost to Samantha VanDer Drift in straight sets (6-0, 6-0), while junior Monika Drabkova dropped hermatch against Kim Van Der Horst by scores of 7-5, 6-2. Also in singlesaction were junior Nathalie Wallin and sophomore Holly Phillips, who fell intheir first round matches. In singles consolation bracket action, Scida collected apair of wins before falling to Rebecca Lin via default.
In doubles, freshman Caroline Dedering and Scida handed Danglord and VanDer Horst an 8-4 lost, but were dealt an 8-2 loss by Dubova and Hedberg. Thetandem lost their match to Solwikova and Taylor (9-7) in the consolationbracket. Meanwhile, Drabkova and Phillips fell to Davison and Larasson.
UTSA returns to action on Nov. 2-4 at the UNT Invite in Denton.
