SAN ANTONIO ? Junior libero Audrey Hiser was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Hiser was outstanding along UTSA’s back row last week, as she averaged eight digs per game in a pair of matches. The San Antonio native racked up 48 digs in losses to Texas State and Texas-Arlington, including a career-high 29 on Saturday against the Mavericks. It was her sixth 20-plus performance of the year and she now has a team-best 360 this season (4.8 pg/sixth SLC). Hiser has been in double figures in her last 13 matches and in 17 of her last 18 contests overall.
Texas-Arlington outside hitter Torie Dacus, and Central Arkansas middle blocker Chloe Smith shared this week's offensive honor.
UTSA returns to action on Friday when it heads to the Bayou State for a 7 p.m. match at Northwestern State.
