SAN ANTONIO - A rowdy crowd of around 1,000 greeted the UTSA men's and women's basketball teams on Friday night at the Convocation Center in the first-ever Roadrunner Ruckus.
Fans were treated to performances by the cheer and dance teams, a 3-point contest won by senior guard Terrie Davis of the women's squad, a slam dunk contest won by junior guard Joey Shank of the men's team, an acrobatic dunk show by Air Dunk and dance routines from both teams.
The celebration was held immediately following the first official practice for both teams on Friday evening. The women host the Houston Jaguars in their exhibition opener on Wednesday, Oct. 31, while the men play Mary-Hardin Baylor in their only exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 3. Fans will be treated to a regular season opener doubleheader on Friday, Nov. 9, with the women playing Huston-Tillotson at 6 p.m., followed by the men versus Hardin-Simmons at 8 p.m.
