SAN ANTONIO ? Texas State rallied from a 28-24 game one deficit and never looked back, as it posted a 34-32, 30-12, 30-21 sweep of UTSA on Thursday night at the Convocation Center. The match was played in front of 625 fans, which was the eighth-largest crowd in school history.

The Roadrunners (9-14, 1-5 SLC) saw their two-match winning streak come to an end, while the Bobcats (11-7, 4-2 SLC) won for the eighth time in their last 10 matches.

Needing just two points to sew up the first game, UTSA first lost senior outside hitter Cristina Almeida to injury and then 10 of the final 14 points, as Texas State staved off a pair of game points. The Roadrunners survived a pair of game points themselves, but consecutive attack errors by junior defensive specialist Dani Nickle and junior middle hitter Victoria Prior gave the Bobcats the come-from-behind victory.

Texas State carried the momentum from that frame into game two and used a 16-3 run to close out the 18-point victory. The Bobcats then jumped out to a 5-1 advantage following intermission, but UTSA battled back to take a 17-14 lead. The two squads then went back and forth until the score was tied at 20, but Texas State closed out the match with a 10-1 run to send UTSA to its 10th three-game defeat of the season.

Freshman outside hitter Kendra Rowland continued her strong play, as she racked up a match-best 14 kills and 17 digs for her 11th double-double of the year. Prior added 13 winners and junior libero Audrey Hiser extended her double-digit streak to 12 with a match-high 19 digs.

Middle blocker Emily Jones led the way for the Bobcats, as she recorded a team-high 10 kills and seven block assists. Setter Brittany Collins handed out 21 assists and libero Kacey Wimpy collected 16 digs.

UTSA is back on the court on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Texas-Arlington (11-7, 4-1 SLC) at 2 p.m.
